Covergirl Trublend Translucent Pressed Powder Close Drugstore
I received this as a gift with purchase of a hair straightener, thankfully in the right shade for me (M3 Golden Beige). I love how light this is. One pump is enough and I apply using a brush. I wear light makeup anyway but you could use more to suit your coverage preference. This gave me such a natural even base and even a light application was enough to cover any little spots I had. It didn't seem to settle into any fine lines - although I do use a primer underneath. I found it lasted all day (I set with a light dusting of powder) and didn't go oily after exercising or on a hot day.
I've been using it pretty much every day for well over three months and I'm only halfway through the bottle. And that's another bonus - the glass bottle lets you see how much you have left which I love. Would definitely use again. This is a foundation i grab usually from the supermarket as a filler when I'm low or out of the foundation I'm currently using. Its such a nice lightweight foundation in that you can build it up from light coverage to a nice medium coverage or apply a pressed powder over the top without it becoming 'cakey' or setting into wrinkles and creases on the face. Does however grab onto any dry skin or scabs that may be on the face so its best suited for normal / hydrated skin to avoid this issue. Love that you can build on this foundation so concealer application isn't an issue so all those problem areas can be confidently covered.

Washes off very well since its water based, in summer probably not ideal as a daily foundation as even a little sweat can wear this foundation off! In saying that, I find it does wear well and lasts most of the day. I will continue to repurchase this foundation as its a really good loyal formula and brand and I just love wearing it. I'm very pale and so I find it extremely hard to find a foundation that I like the formula of and matches my skin tone without making me turn orange or appearing more pale than I actually am and this product ticked both of those boxes. I also really liked that it has a pump because it's easier to get the product out and control how much you're using to minimise wastage.
The only things I didn't like about this foundation is that it doesn't last that long and it could be a higher coverage (not really an issue, just use a bit of concealer over the top). Overall, I really like this product and I probably will repurchase it until I can find something I like better. I bought this foundation in the lightest shade (due to my extremely pale skin). I will say, that the colour match is really good within the range. However, the coverage is quite weak. It's really good if you're looking for a natural makeup look or if you're a beginner in makeup, but not for everyday wear due to the fact that it wears off very fast, even with setting powder and/or setting spray.
My freckles and pimples were totally visible no matter the amount of layers I added to my face, which again is fine if that's the sort of coverage and wear you're after. I have not since repurchased this foundation due to the way it worked with my skin. I've had difficulty finding drugstore brand shades to match my medium yellow-olive skin. Most shades are too pink or orange. They also don't offer the full range of shades that they usually offer in the US, which I find annoying since we're just as multicultural as the US. CoverGirl truBLEND caught my eye because you can easily see the shade through the bottle and the lid is colour-coordinated with the foundation shade.
M4 stood out because it was obviously more yellow than any drugstore shade I've seen. When I first tested it, my skin was still straight out of winter and a bit on the paler side, so it wasn't a perfect match. But when I came back to it at the beginning of summer, it came out to be the perfect match!
Don't expect a lot of coverage from this formula. It's a light-medium coverage that I don't find to be buildable. I haven't tried it with the coordinating concealer and powder, because I don't have time for that in the mornings.
I don't have much to hide, so I'm satisfied that it evens out my skin tone, covers redness, and looks natural. It won't cover stuff like acne scars or undereye circles after an all-nighter. This will definitely be my go-to drugstore shade for summer. I tried using the other shades to find one for winter, but sadly M4 is the only one yellow enough and all the rest were either pinky or orangey. I will definitely repurchase it for next summer and would recommend this particular shade to anyone with medium skin with strong yellow-olive undertones.
I am not a huge foundation fan and do not like heavy coverage. I have very fair skin and tried this in shade L1 which matches my skin tone perfectly (I also tried L2 which was had much darker undertones and didn't suit) out of all the foundations I have ever tried this is my favourite and I will repurchase it.
I have not ever found a colour in other brands that is light enough for my skin but tru blend is perfect. It comes in a pump bottle which is OK. It can be difficult to pump out the exact amount you want if you want less than the full pump. However, the pump is hygienic and it can be switched to closed (no leakage) and it wont dry out. The full pump is pretty close to the right amount for full coverage. I have used both a foundation brush and sponges for application and the formula is fine with both. Less product is needed when you use a brush.
Consistency is liquid, light and blendable. I simply apply a thin layer and it sinks into my skin fairly quickly leaving behind a matte finish when dry. It doesn't look powdery but it covers up shiny areas such as forehead/nose. It does not cover pimples, dark patches etc but I don't think foundation is meant to (you will need concealer for those areas) it is meant to provide a base to complement your skin tone and even it out. Tru blend does this very well.
My skin looks gorgeous after I apply this and most people would not even notice I was wearing makeup. This foundation covers me for most of my day. I do not feel the need to reapply this, and it isn't necessary to set with powder (though I have a 'less is more' attitude with foundation) If I put it on first thing in the morning I might add some powder in the late afternoon to cover shiny areas but I wouldn't add more foundation. There is a matching powder compact and concealer for this (which I also have). There is no discernable scent to the product.
I am so in love with this powder. I wanted to try the Laura Mercier but it's too expensive for my budget so I went for this.
I specifically bought this for 'baking' and let me tell you it works amazing. I pour some on the top lid and use a sponge to place it under my eyes then I then use the excess and use a fluffy powder brush to put it all over my face (no it's not cakey) then I contour and to give me that sharp contour I place it under my contour. I use a lot of this as you can tell but it still doesn't cake and there's no flashback although I haven't taken a picture with flash at night with this on. There's a lot of product too and it's cheap.
Only complaint I have is the powder puff inside of it I feel I need to put it inside to close it so it won't open and when I open it there's product on the powder puff so I feel this uses up some of the powder but there's so much product it doesn't bother me much. I definitely recommend and right when I run out I'm running to the store to buy again. Picture below using product. First of all, anyone who doesn't know already, elf is one of the very best discount cosmetic lines out there.
Actually, I'd say because of they're price point, they rank #1 in my book with NYX following in close second. NYX also holds a special place in my heart, but is slightly more expensive than elf. I initially bought this powder a few years ago when I was first discovering elf and starting to get into makeup more. I HATED it at first! I thought it was too light, and you could see it all over my face and it just looked terrible.
The problem was not with the makeup itself but with how i was applying it. I did find other uses for it at the time though. I have pretty oily skin naturally and didn't want to shell out lots of money for the good foundations that cater to oily skin, so I began mixing a bit of this powder in with my foundation. It worked pretty well, though it didn't totally help the oilyness. Also this stuff works great if you run out of dry shampoo and need some in a pinch! Fast forward a few years and I'd like to think I am much better and more knowledgeable of makeup application.
Knowing the correct way to apply this, it is now one of my must have products! It actually rivals the Makeup Forever translucent powder, and for this price, I'd say it wins. The best way I've found to apply this is: - I lightly dust it with a fluffy brush over the areas on my face that I use concealer to highlight.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Your makeup will not move if you do this. I also use this to 'bake' my face. This is literally the only thing I can to to fight the oil on my skin! I always had an issue with it and as soon as I baked for the first time, it totally solved the problem! To do this, you use concealer and then a THICK layer of powder on your trouble areas. You let that set for about 10 minutes and then dust it off with a fluffy brush.
Shine free:) 100% the best powder you can get at this price point. This powder is as nice as some very high end powders I have purchased over the years. It has no smell and the translucent color is just as pictured.
Covergirl Trublend Powder Foundation
It is very fined milled meaning it is very silky to the touch and goes on smoothly. I like using the sponge applicator as it prevents putting on too much. It does leave a matte finish on my combination skin (dry cheeks, oily t-zone). Well, without foundation, it did minimize my pores upon application. As it sank in over the hours, this effect diminished a bit, but my t-zone isn't very oily, just oilier than my outer face.
Perhaps if you have very oily skin, the poreless effect won't last all day (as it wouldn't have when I was younger). With foundation, the poreless effect was even better and lasted longer.
Now, mind you, the translucent isn't colorless; but rather, it is the palest color offered. I like that it isn't mask like and tops off foundation is a very nice way. I am careful to not put much, if any, on any wrinkles I have as it can accentuate these. I put a light dusting on my cheeks and chin, and go a bit heavier on my nose and forehead. It seems to blend and smooth the look of my makeup and it sets it so it lasts longer (pretty much all day). Because I use a light touch, which is easy to do with the enclosed sponge, it doesn't get cakey or flakey. This is my go-to finishing powder!
It's great for combo to oily skin - although I still get a few oily patches, there are dramatically less when I use this powder. I also feel like it makes my foundation look more even and my makeup does stay longer throughout the day, though still not ALL day. I've tried applying it multiple ways and have found that using a fan brush to lightly dust over the face is best.
A compact sponge is going to be WAY too heavy, and even powder brushes weren't distributing equally. You may run into a slight whitening-effect when using this powder, especially if you have darker skin, but for my fair complexion it's not too abd. I didn’t have super high expectations for this powder and was pleasantly surprised to discover how great it is.
I received 830 in the color light to medium, and it disappeared into my skin leaving a beautiful matte finish that banished any shine and blended seamlessly with my foundation. I used a brush instead of the provided applicator, and I applied it on top of a liquid foundation. The product was a little messy in the pan after a quick sweep of the brush, but that wasn’t an issue for me.
At the end of a long day, the powder had become subtly noticeable on my skin, especially in the T-zone, but I was impressed with its longevity and the fact that it helped my makeup last throughout the day. As someone with oily skin, I’m always on the lookout for mattifying products, and this could easily become an everyday staple for me. Disclaimer: I received this product for free from Influenster, but all opinions are my own. This has been a holy grail of mine for quite some time now. I don't know many other people that use it but I absolutely love it.
I have extremely oily skin in my T-zone which will literally make any foundation I have on disintegrate. With this powder I am able to get a full day wear and not be obnoxiously shiny. Yes I use an oily blotter every 4 hours, but if I didn't have this powder on I wouldn't have to use an oil blotter because I would have absolutely no make up on. I would like to point out that this powder has a pink undertone. So although it says translucent it really isnt. It'll tint your face a bit with the pink undertone. I actually have a very yellow warm undertone so it ends up being okay and not being too awkward on my skin.

I have a medium skin tone but I think anything deeper may look a bit ashy. All in all still something I can't live without!! I ran out of my normal powder once & couldn't find it in the store. I grabbed this bc it was cheap & I figured it would hold me over until I got my regular brand again.
I still bought the other face powder, but I have been using this product WAY more now. I use it in Sandstorm. It has great coverage on it's own, which is great because I hate to layer on foundations & powders. It isn't cakey on it's own, but it is if you try to use this in combination with a foundation or something.
It's just not necessary. This is the ONE so-called 'Matte' product I've tried that actually lives up to it's name. It really is oil-absorbing.
I have oily/combination skin & have trouble with shiny face throughout the day. It's definitely been less of a problem since I've started using this. & The shade Sandstorm matches me flawlessly, which has always been an issue for me. It's hard to find a powder that really matches & doesn't make me look tan or ghostly white lol. This is great stuff. The only problem I've run into is that it's a little hard to wash off at the end of the day.
It does feel cakey washing off (although it doesn't look cakey on). I have to use a make up wipe & exfoliating face wash to really feel like it's all off.
I love love love love this product so much! This is what i used for 'baking' every time i'm done contouring and highlighting, i use a dry blender sponge and put if on my under eye and under my cheekbones and it definitely sets my makeup. It gives me the matte look and doesn't cake up as well especially since i have the combined oily face skin type. Cant beat the price too.
I'm a huge fan of NYX, Theyre products are so affordable and some of their products are actually worth the hype and trying out, this one definitely does!
